Spells

Spells are the invoked, incanted, invocated, or inbued effects of magic manipulation. Magic comes in several varieties, such as arcane, bardic, druidic, and divine. Different spell casters utilize magic differently. Spells are organized by different levels of complexity and also by various schools of magic.

  • Cantrips: May be cast at any time, and do not require any spell points to cast.
  • 1st Level Spells: May be cast at any time as long as you have enough spell points.
  • 2nd Level Spells: Requires the creation of a Spell Gem in order to use the spell, as well as the requisite spell points.
  • 3rd Level Spells: Requires the consumption of a Spell Gem and the requisite spell points to cast. These are the most powerful spells you can cast in The Outlands outside of performing a ritual.

Spell-Like Abilities

Spell-like abilities represent more subtle, inherent magics of various individuals or artifacts. Spell-like abilities often have limited charges and cooldowns, and are usually granted by racial abilities, class abilities, or magic items. Spell-like abilities do not require spell gems nor spell points to use.

Spell Points

Spell points represent how many spells you can cast before needing to take a long rest (or short rest for Warlock). Spell points are determined by your class, your progression.

Spell Gems

See also: Spell Gems

Spell Gems are special magical artifacts created by magic users capable of using second level spells. They are required to fuel more advanced magic. Spell Gems are required for 2nd, and 3rd Level spells. They are only consumed by 3rd Level spells.

Spell DC

This refers to the difficulty class (DC) of your spell and spell-like abilities when used against other players. Spell DC is calculated as follows:

8 + Spellcasting Attribute + Proficiency Bonus = Spell DC
